Basset Hound color's....
Akc does recognize most all color's in the
hound group. But there are some
breeders selling basset's that they call
blue bassets. They are usually selling
them at very high price saying they are
wonderful rare color. Yes it is true you
don't see blue bassets very often.
(Blue color Bassets) They are not actually
blue bassets they are more of a gray
color that fades through the black. It is a
recessive jean that can some times
accrue in a breeding.
(Tri color Bassets) A tri color is  black,
brown and white. There  are many
variations of a tri color. There might be
more of one of the color's. But there will
always be all three color's .A tri color
basset will have a black nose and very
dark brown eye's.
(Lemon and white) A lemon and white will
sometimes be mistaken for a red/white. A
true lemon will be mostly white when it's
born and will start to get fades of a light tan
color as it grows. A true lemon will also
have a red coloring in it's nose it won't be
solid  black. There eye's are a very lovely
lighter color almost a almond brown.A
lemon/white's color will get darker as it
gets older.
(Red and White) A red/white will have a
darker tan color with the white when it is
born and the tan will get darker and turn to
more of a red color as it matures.A
red/white will also have a red color nose
not black. But there eye's are dark brown.
(Black and White) A black and White will
be just that black and white with no other
color's. They will have a black nose and
dark brown eye's
(Mahogany and White) A mahogany can
also be mistaken as a red/white. A
mahogany is a very deep dark reddish
rust to brown color. A mahogany may also
have some black on it's face. There might
even be black hairs down it's back or
mixed in the mahogany color. A
mahogany will have a black nose and
dark brown eye's.
